New Riso Workshop and Cool Stuff that Happened

Two highlights arrive in this newsletter. First, the group show, Golden Hour, I am so honored to be a part of with Liv Monique Johnson and Angel Oloshove opened this past Saturday.

Second, I’m organizing another Risograph workshop next week. There’s still some spots open. Last week’s workshop went really well, shout out to Aisha, Jean and Tyler from Box 13 for assisting and being there. I’m sharing some photos below, and a link to sign up.

Intro to Risograph Workshop- Monday July 6

Ever been curious about risograph printing? Artists and creatives adore this method of printmaking for its accessible nature, bright overlaying colors, and beautiful textures. Artist and Box 13 member Gaby Hurtado-Ramos will lead a demonstration and collaborative workshop on how to use the risograph to make drawing and collage-based prints. This is a great way to jump into the basics and come away with collaborative prints on letter-sized paper. Spaces are limited to 12 to accommodate for a chance to operate the machine.

I took a washi papermaking workshop with Rix Jennings. You can see his work and future workshops on his website, https://www.rixjennings.com/. It’s hot in Houston so we added ice bags to the vat. The pulp was a mixture of abaca and kozo fiber (aka mulberry).

I have a group show with the talented Liv Monique Johnson and Angel Oloshove at Hooks-Epstein Gallery in Houston. It opened Saturday. A rainbow appeared on the wall.
