Gaby Hurtado-Ramos is an artist and educator based in Knoxville Tennessee making drawings, prints, zines, and writing around the cracks and glimmers of queer social space and intimacy. They are originally from Houston, Texas and influenced by alternative utopic spaces of the past, present, and future. They have a passion for self-publishing and love printing and teaching the risograph. Gaby’s work has been shared and exhibited in print and zine expos, markets, academic archives, and galleries. They have completed residencies at The Dirt Palace (Providence, RI), The Wedding Cake House (Providence, RI), The Printing Museum (Houston, TX) and Penland School of Craft (North Carolina). They have presented work at MAPC and serve as the student board member of SGCI. Their illustration work has been commissioned by ProPublica, the Highlander Research and Education Center, and the Tucson Jewish Museum. They received their BA from Oberlin College. Gaby is currently pursuing an MFA in Studio Art at the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
